A Mother’s Grief Therapy Group

The loss of a child impacts a parent unlike any other loss. The healing power of being in a group with others who have shared your loss is significant. Whether your child was a young child or an adult child, whether the loss is fresh or it has been a number of years you may benefit from participating. Strong feelings, including anger, guilt, and blame combined with the reality of knowing your child is gone and on the other hand not wanting to believe it may be an experience all group members understand. I want you to know that grieving in solitude is optional.

This group is different from community support groups in that the process is facilitated by a trained professional taking the healing to a deeper level. Facilitating others grief, death and dying has been an important part of my work since 1988. I have supported those who have lost loved ones to AIDS, ALS, cancer, murder, traumatic accident, medical complications, and complications of aging amongst others.

Please contact me if you are considering a group experience and we will see if it is right for you. If you are in therapy with someone else, the group can serve as an adjunct and I will collaborate with your primary therapist.

This group is now forming. Download (DOC 124 KB) flyer for more information.

Generation to Generation

Mothers & Daughters

As women we have all been daughters and some of us have been mothers, and then some of us have reached grandmotherhood. This workshop is for any woman who is interested in exploring the complicated, dynamic nature of the mother and daughter. The beautiful documentary by Suzie Galler, I am My Mother’s Daughter is shown to enhance and demonstrate our joys and struggles in these roles. There will be opportunities to journal, participate in large and small group discussions and involve yourself in action oriented experiences. This is appropriate for ages 13 and older. You may come with a mother, a daughter or grandmother.
A light lunch is served.

Esteem * Strength * Love * Wisdom

Extreme Esteem workshops are presented by Ellie Fields, MS, LPC and Julie Luzarraga, LCSW, DCSW. We are committed to the growth and evolution of your sense of self, courage, confidence, integrity and personal truth. Our workshops are intended to help you begin this process and develop an understanding of where you are now and where you need to go with your journey. Much of our inspiration comes from the work of Suzie Galler and the Esteemed Woman Foundation. As part of your experience we show her documentary I am Beautiful to enhance the esteem exploration. We currently provide these workshops exclusively to women ages 18 and older. Special engagements can be arranged where we tailor to the needs of your group; adolescents, mothers, daughters, and granddaughters, adult children. We want to hear from you and the esteem needs of your group! This workshop is intended for ages 18 and older.
